Recruiting companies to regions and matching opportunities for new businesses is often dependent on relationships within the existing business community and market factors. For site selection, multiple factors--including project criteria and real estate analysis--determine what places will fit the functional requirements for new businesses as well as positively contribute to the local economy.  Grounding these decisions with an understanding of an area's racial history, power dynamics, and environmental needs can help determine both the best types of businesses to develop and the best methods to do so.
