One of the most exciting parts of the 2017 tax bill was the inclusion of a new program for distressed communities: the Opportunity Zone program. A little over a year has passed, and the Treasury Department has completed designations and funds are being established to being investing in designated communities. We'll discuss current regulations for zones and funds and best practices for taking advantage of the program, based in part on the successes and failures of past 'zone' initiatives.
